Happy Monday!

Happy Monday and hello cool weather! It sure is nice and comfortable in the great state of Texas today! We hope that everyone had a great weekend! So, what has Sweet & Sassy Sewing been up to since our last post? Well, we had our first international sale -- to the Netherlands! I shipped the package out this morning! Yippee!

Also, we put together and donated a basket to the Christian Women's Job Corps (CWJC) or Greater Baytown for their silent auction/talent show to be held on October 23. I've included a picture of the basket. It contains an iPad case/sleeve and an assortment of keyfobs!

Hope everyone has a great week!

A Walk Through the Forest....

Good Morning! As I sat here today longing for a little cool fall weather, I decided to put together a treasury that would evoke those feelings of autumn. This treasury reminds me of hiking through the forests of The Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Tennessee. I would sure love to have woods to walk through this morning! Ok, well, if I could only have the cool weather that would be fine too!

Have a Sweet & Sassy Day!

NOTE : This photo was taken in a gorge in the Smoky Mountains by my Dad on December 18, 2005. Visit his website for more fine art photography @ KJUN Productions.

Weekend Projects

I have been using Saturdays to create. This weekend I had every intention of creating some sweet holiday items to add to the shop and, instead, I am watching football and imaging how to use this fancy fabric to make some fun, yet sophisticated, curtains for my office. I know I said I was done with curtains for a while, but my new desk and hutch arrived for my office and I am just chompin' at the bit to get that room put together.

Isn't this fabric cool? I bought it years ago for my dining room back in South Carolina.

Here is the sweet holiday planner project that is in the works. It has pockets for lists, coupons, receipts, and more. Looks like I have found a new favorite color scheme. : )

think it*create it*share it

TxParrotGirl and I have decided to start a blog, so we can write more than 160 characters at a time about our fascination with fabric and the creative things we endeavor to sew. As any crafter knows, once you think it, you will stay up all night thinking about it until you create it. In fact, you may stay up all night the next night creating it,and then you can't wait to share it. You want to post picture and tell all your crafting friends about the awesome thing you made.

Most recently, for me, it was my dining room curtains. I was in search of the perfect fabric, had a color scheme in mind, and then one day, was in the fabric store with Lisa and there it was on the clearance table. A beautiful aqua and tan wide stripe fabric, heavy weight, with just the right amount of iridescence. To sweeten the pot, there were just over 3 yards available (exactly what I needed to make two panels). I got the whole cut for under $10 (would have been 10x's that regularly). For days, I showed off the fabric to neighbors when they stopped by to visit, then, one night, I finished the curtains, hung the curtain rod (all by myself) and was posting photos on Facebook. Not only had I made something for my home, but now I can get back to playing with sweet and sassy fabrics and making cute gifts and scrapbooks. I'm not done with all of my curtains, but it is definitely time to get creative and start thinking about the holidays.

Check out this collection of lime green and turqupoise key fobs with polka dots and peace signs that TxParrotGirl made. Really cute, right? It has got me thinking of Christmas gifts for my niece and cousins. Guess I better get to sewing....
